Yamunanagar Police Seize One Kilogram of Opium Worth Rs 600,000; Young Labourer Arrested While En Route from Bareilly to Ambala
Yamunanagar Police arrested a 21 to 22-year-old tile worker carrying one kilogram of opium worth nearly Rs 600,000 while travelling from Bareilly to Ambala. Authorities suspect his links to a larger interstate drug trafficking network and will seek police remand to trace the source, intended recipient, and other individuals involved in the narcotics supply chain.
According to police officials, the operation was launched after authorities received confidential intelligence indicating that a युवक was carrying a narcotic substance from Bareilly towards Ambala. Acting swiftly on the tip-off, Yamunanagar Police formed a special team and established checkpoints in the area to conduct an intensive search operation.
During the checking campaign, officers stopped a suspicious individual and conducted a thorough search. The search led to the recovery of nearly one kilogram of opium from his possession. The accused was immediately taken into custody at the scene.
Preliminary interrogation revealed that the young man worked as a daily wage labourer and earned his livelihood by installing tiles. However, investigators suspect that he may be connected to a larger drug trafficking syndicate operating across state lines.
Police officials stated that the accused will be produced before the court and remanded for further questioning. Investigators are seeking to determine the source of the opium, identify the individuals involved in the trafficking network, and establish the intended recipient of the consignment in Ambala.
Deputy Superintendent of Police Yamunanagar, Kavaldeep Singh, confirmed the arrest and seizure. He said that the accused was found carrying approximately one kilogram of opium worth around Rs 600,000. He added that the suspect has been arrested and will be presented before the court to obtain police remand so that authorities can gather information about the supply chain and identify other persons involved in the operation.
The seizure is being viewed as an important development in the ongoing crackdown against narcotics smuggling in Haryana. With investigators now probing the broader supply network, the case may lead to the exposure of a larger interstate drug trafficking racket.
